2018 F1 stars to headline the after-race concerts: Who are they?

Several months ago, we got you all hyped for the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, known to be the biggest, most star-studded annual sports event in the region. We have rolled out some fantastic early bird promos for groups!

Now that we’re past the early-bird phase, it is time to shift the attention to the international artists who will be headlining the after-race concerts. These concerts are happening on November 22 to 25, 2018, at the du Arena on Yas Island. Access to these phenomenal performances comes with the F1 package you book. (Here’s a sample programme we have created specifically for groups.)

Every year, there are usually four mega stars who fly in to Abu Dhabi to entertain the F1 crowd. We’re just waiting for one more star, but three have already been confirmed!

Here they are:

The Weeknd | November 23

The Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum-selling trendsetter The Weeknd will perform tracks from his critically-acclaimed 2015 album ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’, his new fourth studio album ‘My Dear Melancholy‘ as well as songs from his earlier mixtapes ‘House of Balloons’, ‘Thursday’, and ‘Echoes of Silence’.

One of the most enigmatic artists of the 21st century, The Weeknd has been winning over music fans in the know since 2011. The 28-year-old is best known for his hit singles ‘I Feel It Coming’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘Starboy’ and most recently ‘Call Out My Name’.

Sam Smith | November 24

A globally successful singer/songwriter who has won numerous awards including two Grammys, three Billboard Music Awards, and three Brit Awards, Sam Smith’s performance in Abu Dhabi will feature tracks from his critically acclaimed 2014 debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ as well as his most recent release, 2017’s ‘The Thrill Of It All’.

In 2015, he won the Grammy Award for ‘Best New Artist’ as well as Brit Awards for ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ for ‘In The Lonely Hour’.

Known for his powerful and emotive vocal performances, Sam counts Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Brandy and Adele among his many musical influences.

Guns ‘N Roses | November 25

Rock music lovers in Abu Dhabi can expect to see original members Axl, Slash, and Duff perform the full Guns N’ Roses back catalogue of hits including ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ and ‘Paradise City’. Axl Rose’s distinctive vocals, Slash’s splendid guitar riffs and Duff McKagan on bass remain at the core of the Guns N’ Roses sound, which will fill the du Arena on Sunday 25 November.

Guns N’ Roses, who have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, have been performing to sold out stadiums around the globe in recent years. This means fans who travel to the du Arena can expect to see an amazing performance by the legendary rock act.
