Fujairah to build the world’s largest coral garden

Fujairah to build the world’s largest coral garden

For divers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the region, Fujairah is more than a quiet coastal emirate – it is an underwater paradise teeming with various species of fish and corals. But this best-kept secret of Arabia is bound to get global as Fujairah maps out a plan to build the world’s largest coral garden.

During the recent launch of the initiative, the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Fujairah Centre for Adventures signed a memorandum of understanding to construct the garden. “Such agreements are important to help preserve the pristine natural beauty of the region and its precious marine environment,” said Saeed Al Muamari, director of the Fujairah Centre for Adventures.

“The project is the largest in the world and will help boost local and international interest in the coral reef and the marine environment,” he also said in a report.

While the exact location is yet to be determined, what is certain is that it will be easily accessible and will fall within a protected area at least one nautical mile from the shore.

Details on when this project will be completed are not yet available, but we will definitely update you soon as we get more information.
