Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost emirate of the United Arab Emirates, is fast emerging as an adventure tourism hub.
On February 1, it launched what has already been certified by the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s longest zipline. Taking off from the UAE’s highest mountain peak at 1,680 metres above sea level, the entire length of the zipline adventures measures 2.83 kilometres and spans the chasm of the Jebel Jais mountain.
Adventurers will be suspended above the mountain as they prepare to take the flight headfirst in a ‘superman’ style position. The experience will see participants fitted with a special suit and equipment for the adventure, with the longest flight itself taking approximately two to three minutes.
Once completed, guests will finish the flight on a first-of-its-kind suspended landing platform, where they will be transferred to a second line, measuring 1 km, to complete their journey back to the ground.
Dubbed as the ’Jebel Jais Flight‘, the zipline adventure is set to become the flagship tourism product of Ras Al Khaimah.
Complementing this one-of-a-kind experience is the Middle East’s first Via Ferrata mountain adventure. The Via Ferrata involves a lot of climbing and trekking across Jebel Jais along routes designed in various difficulty levels. Steel cables and ziplines make up these routes or the iron path.
As we are expecting extreme adventure activities to figure in our MICE itineraries soon, conquering the world’s longest zipline certainly qualifies as an item to add to one’s bucket list. Ticking this item off your bucket list as a team would be awesome, don’t you think?
