Arabia’s hospitality industry is growing quite rapidly, with hotels constantly innovating to differentiate themselves in such a highly competitive sector. They are now offering a host of new options for seasoned travellers who may want to have something different, veering away from the usual luxury hotel options.
We call them hipster hotels. You would know a hipster hotel when you see one. Pops of colour here and there, industrial touches here and there, pop culture references, repurposed elements on the tables or hanging from the ceiling, retro-cool stuff and, of course, art in every nook and cranny.
But there’s a lot more to hipster hotels than its aesthetics and all these funky things. At the core of these properties lies its objective to provide its guests with a unique experience and immerse them deep in the heart of the local culture and the destination’s urban lifestyles. The best thing about these hotels is that they are not expensive and are usually highly affordable.
Here are some of the most popular ones in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in no particular order:
Aloft Hotels have been in the market for a while now with Aloft Abu Dhabi, being among the first. It is in close proximity to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
There are two new additions in the UAE. One is Aloft The Palm. Having recently opened, the Aloft the Palm lives true to its brand, bringing its great sense of design and signature colours to the stunning Palm Jumeirah. Its dining spots are just as vibrant as the rest of this four-star hotel, with vivid colours brightening up clean lines and cool patterns. Here, you get to enjoy the views of the iconic Burj Al Arab, the Jumeirah palaces and the Arabian Gulf, with a cozy, urban vibe all around.
